A Swellegant Success

On March 7th the Board of Directors of Boston Youth Moves hosted its ninth annual Swellegance gala to benefit the dynamic Boston Youth Moves arts-education program.

This year's fundraiser was an evening of fabulous food, fun and entertainment, packing star power like never before. Held at the Westin Copley Hotel, the event was spearheaded by Honorary Event Chair, the illustrious Chita Rivera, and paid tribute to Honorees, film stars Mitzi Gaynor and Richard Gere. Once again, the lovely JC Monahan, of WCVB-TV handled the emcee duties with aplomb and guests were dazzled by a fabulous silent auction and featured performances from the dancers of Boston Youth Moves and their alumni, including Kirven Boyd of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.

Swellegance 2009 was the most visible gala to date and raised over $114,000 for the Boston Youth Moves program. We wish to thank everyone - our sponsors, event and auction donors, event volunteers and all those who attended - who made Swellegance 2009 a memorable evening and a swellegant success.

Mark your calendars now for our tenth anniversary Swellegance gala to be held on March 6, 2010, at the Westin Copley Boston Hotel. We look forward to seeing you there!
