Beginning Teen Dance Intensive
August 18th-22nd, 2008, 1:00PM - 4:00PM
PM
At the Jeannette Neill Dance Center
261 Friend Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA
Boston Youth Moves at The Jeannette Neill dance Studio is sponsoring a one-week dance intensive for teens interested in dance. The program is designed for beginners who have the desire to explore an art form that is exciting, demanding and rewarding. There is no experience necessary to participate in this program, only the interest and desire to learn more about one's creative possibilities.
The program will focus on developing technical skills through a structured movement class. These skills include flexibility, strength, balance and alignment, and sequence memory. Each student will explore these skills through a set warm-up, stylized movement patterns across the floor and present choreographic combinations. Students will then take the material from class and incorporate it into formulas that choreographers use to create dance, resulting in a piece of original choreography. This will involve the use of space, timing and the development of one's own movement possibilities.
The Beginning Teen Dance Intensive will run from August 18th-22nd from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Jeannette Neill Dance Studio. This is a free workshop sponsored by Boston Youth Moves.
The studio is located at 261 Friend Street, 5th floor in Boston. It is next to North Station T-stop on the Green and Orange line. For more information, please call 617-523-1355 or download an application and release form.
