Boston Youth Moves (BYM) is a pre-professional
dance training program for teens from the Greater Boston Area. Though
students receive ample professional performance opportunities, the program
is not driven by recitals or competition. Emphasis is placed on the variety
and quality of dance training with a highly-respected faculty. The aim
of the program is to enhance the student's development in a career as
a dancer, or in a dance- or arts-related field.
BYM is a non-profit organization with a Board of Directors that actively
fundraises scholarship subsidies in order to offset the tuition cost of
all full-time students. To accept this subsidy, students must agree to
abide by the attendance rules and other regulations of the program. Assuming
sufficient space in each level, all auditioning students are admitted
to the program. The audition consists of a ballet barre and a modern/jazz
combination.
